Moon Knight series is an upcoming American television miniseries created by Jeremy Slater, which is based on the marvel comics superhero Moon Knight (and his alter ego Marc Spector). It has Jeremy Slater as head writer and Mohamed Diab, who will be directing this 6-episode miniseries along with Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead.

The first episode of the Moon Knight series is set to premiere on March 30, 2022 and will be streaming on Disney+ Hotstar. The first season will consist of six episodes.

Plot Summary of Moon Knight series

Moon Knight series follows Steve Grant (played by Oscar Isaac), a well-mannered gift-shop employee, who is having a chaos in his mind, he is unable to differentiate between his waking life and his dreams. 

He actually has blackouts and memories of another life, which keep ghosting him. Later Steven discovers that he has dissociative identity disorder (DID), a psychological disorder which is characterized by a person experiencing two or more distinct personality states, called alters. It is usually a reaction to some trauma that helps in a way to avoid bad memories. 

As Steven/Marc’s enemies encounter them, they must sort out their complex identities, while there lies the mystery among the powerful gods of Egypt, among which is Khonshu.

The trailer came out on 18 January, 2022 and we got a sneak peek into the origin of the story starring Oscar Isaac as the lead role. We get to see Steven (played by Oscar Isaac) having some psychological chaos in his mind, the audience is already intrigued by the darkness of the character Moon Knight and grittiness of his character. 

Later, he is resurrected into Moon Knight by the Egyptian God. We get to catch a glimpse of the psychological horror aspect of this in Moon Knight series.

The audience is recognizing Moon Knight as the White Batman of Marvels, and they’re loving the intense psychological angle of the show.

Moon Knight, the mummy superhero, is a former US marine, who is struggling with DID, is granted the powers of an Egyptian moon god. But he soon realizes that these newfound powers can be both a boon and a curse.

As the Marvel Cinematic Universe has started the Phase Four, which includes many movies and television series, initiated with the movie: Black Widow (2021). Moon Knight is probably going to be one of the darkest things the House of Ideas has ever released, it might even end up setting a horror corner of the MCU. 

One interesting detail about this series is that the trailer was released on January 17th, a full moon night and the series will be released on 30th March, which will have a crescent moon.

Moon Knight (1980) #1, written by Doug Moench, was published on November 01, 1980 and there started the journey of Moon Knight.

Before becoming the Moon Knight, Marc Spector was a mercenary. Here Moon Knight revenges on “Bushman”, the mercenary who ruins numerous innocent lives, including his colleagues.

Then came many comic book issues of Moon Knight and many fans loved this character.

  • Moon Knight #1: Jed Mackay is the writer of the character Moon Knight. In the comics, he is seen on his Midnight Mission, in which he goes in alleys and rooftops marked with his crescent moon tags in order to save his people from weird and horrible. While Khonshu is in the prison Moon Knight put him in.
  • Moon Knight #2: Now, Moon Knight has his people under his wings, but then these very people are turned into weapons against him and leave a trail of bizarre violence. Moon Knight now must put his everything on the line to get to the bottom of it.
  • Moon Knight #3: Moon Knight who now has taken on Khonshu’s duty, by betraying a god and taking on his role. While to the people he protects, this is a blessing, but when Moon God’s enemies, vampires are provided with shelter by the Fist of Khonshu, the Moon Knight need to get back on the correct path, using Hunter’s Moon help.
  • Moon Knight #4: Now, the life of Moon Knight is in jeopardy, a mysterious enemy attacks him in a very unanticipated way. It also features the stripes sensation Tigra.
  • Moon Knight #5: Moon Knight’s hidden enemy is unveiled, but not caught. Moon Knight finds himself not being able to figure out his new arch rival. Simultaneously, Dr. Andrea Sterman pierces Moon Knight’s own mask and now finally finds few honest answers now.
  • Moon Knight #6: As it says that history repeats itself, Moon Knight fins himself beaten, bloody, his world shattering into pieces, and this was how Moon Knight was born, but it is happening all over again. And now Moon Knight’s out-planned mysterious foe has stridden out of the shadows to strike, as if he was waiting for this opportunity. Now, will Moon Knight die yet again?
